Most Basic FEES Training Courses involve 20-30 participants. In contrast and based on genuine need, at Nashville Speech & Swallowing Specialists, PLLC we target learners that benefit from small class training that is focused, intensive, and personalized allowing for more opportunities for hands-on learning, practice, and feedback in FEES and endoscopy training. This course is designed to give an intimate, thorough, and direct learning experience in FEES and endoscopy training with class sizes of no more than 2 participants per small group course training or individual 1:1 course training in Nashville, TN and no more than 4 participants per small group course On-site at your facility.

Course Description

A practical training course designed for Speech-Language Pathologists to learn endoscopy procedures and protocols for FEES. Anatomy/physiology, normal and abnormal swallowing, endoscopy procedures and protocols, evidence-based practice, and FEES assessment, analysis, scoring, and interpretation were discussed. Private On-Site Training Course Review

"After years of advocating for FEES at my acute care hospital, my facility decided to take the plunge and give us the green light. One of the largest hurdles we faced was: How do we become competent with no one around to train us? After weighing the options of going to an out-of-state course (and which?) vs hosting a private instructor (and who?), I settled on Nashville Speech and Swallowing Specialists, PLLC and I could not have made a better decision. My colleagues and I are still raving about our experience!

The reasons I would recommend choosing NSSS are twofold: the value and the experience! Having Dr. Fisher come to us allowed us to have a course at a time that worked for ALL our schedules as well as saved us from taking time off from work and struggling to find enough coverage to see our patients. It also spared us all the hidden expenses that come with an out of state course such as city transportation, hotels, flights, food, and extra time off work to account for travel days.

Dr. Fisher's course itself is polished from start to finish. I've been to many continuing education courses and this ranks as THE BEST. The lecture portions are thorough and up to date on current research in the area, and during the hours-long lab portions of the course across both days, my hands were never without one of the endoscopes she brought along with her! Because I was given the opportunity to scope 20x on human subjects on top of countless times on various mannequins, and was even trained to clean the scopes, Dr. Fisher's foundation has left me feeling comfortable in passing an endoscope and confident that my facility will be performing FEES in no time! I cannot speak for other FEES continuing education experiences, but without the focus of the one-on-one training this micro course offered, I don't think myself or my colleagues would feel nearly as comfortable as we do moving forward. I'd highly recommend Dr. Fisher and NSSS to anyone, and in particular for any facility starting from the ground up, as we are!" - Christy Seidel, PhD, CCC-SLP, Rehab Services Coordinator, Rapides Regional Medical Center Hospital

Private 1:1 Training Course Review

I highly recommend Nashville Speech and Swallowing Specialists. The Private individual 1:1 course with Dr. Jamie Fisher exceeded my expectations. The class has more than prepared me to continue my training to become endoscopy certified. The focused and intensive personalized training in a 1:1 setting provided me ample opportunities for hands-on practice and immediate feedback from Dr. Fisher. Dr. Fisher is a knowledgeable teacher who has developed this course with evidence-based practices and current research. The communication before the course was professional, timely and informative. All details were handled with the utmost professionalism. I definitely benefitted from the individual/small class environment based on my learning style being more hands-on. Dr. Fisher's energy and excitement are contagious and will instill in participants a quest to continue their education.” - Katherine Brim, M.S., CCC-SLP

Private Small Group Training Course Review

"I thoroughly enjoyed Dr. Fisher's Micro-Class Basic FEES Training Course. This course has just the right combination of lecture and hands-on lab with a well organized agenda in such a way that each segment provides the foundational knowledge for the next. Having taken other basic FEES courses, this course is truly a hands-on class with plenty of direct 1:1 supervision/feedback. A unique aspect of this course is the opportunity to practice passes on your own mannequin to build comfort level and confidence. The small class size also allows time to process information and address questions that is not always possible in a large group format. I left the course feeling confident with the skills learned and I look forward to Dr. Fisher's advance FEES course!!" - Shirley Pross, M.S., CCC-SLP

“I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Dr. Fisher completing the Micro-Class Basic Fees Training Course. For myself, the hands-on, individualized teaching made me feel comfortable to ask question and learn as well as feel confident in the skills I was gaining. Although the course was completed across a couple of days, the information was provided in an insightful and intensive format pushing the learner to gather as much new knowledge as possible. In our Micro-Class, myself and the other member were both young/new grads who benefited greatly from the hands-on training and nurturing setting that Dr. Fisher’s course provided. I was able to leave the course and begin working with the skills I learned at my place of work later that same week. I will always look at Nashville Speech and Swallowing when I am searching for further courses. I cannot wait to keep learning from. Dr. Fisher!” - Cali Hancock M.Ed CCC-SLP
